As usual, we did a high percentage of whole cluster on these lots, followed by 14 months in barrel. So far, this wine is a one-off, although we may do it again in the future. It is a gorgeous wine with all the texture, depth, perfume, and lift you’d expect from this region. It is farmed organically, and we get a mix of clones from this site. The volcanic soils provide a wine with supple tannins and laser focus, hitting a range of aromatics across the spectrum of red, blue, and black fruit, and a characteristic dried herb freshness. Plenty of whole cluster goodness here, too. Right away this opens with bright tangerine zest and potpourri notes on the nose alongside a dusting of white pepper and sandalwood accents. The palate is lush and fresh with a silky mouthfeel and great flavor density. Neatly-weighted, with outstanding length and a terrific melange of red and dark fruits, alongside damp earthy accents, enjoy now and over the next twelve plus years to come.
